The quality of Mallorcan wines has once again earned national recognition thanks to the outstanding results achieved by Bodegas Macià Batle at the 2025 Baco Awards, one of Spain’s most prestigious and respected wine competitions. The renowned winery from Santa Maria del Camí received one Gold Medal and two Silver Medals, further strengthening its position as one of the leading names in Mallorca’s wine industry.
Organized by the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters (Unión Española de Catadores – UEC) and officially recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Baco Awards are considered the most important competition dedicated exclusively to young wines produced in Spain. Every year, the event brings together hundreds of wines from different wine regions and appellations across the country to identify and reward the finest wines from the most recent vintage.
In this year’s edition, Bodegas Macià Batle stood out by winning the prestigious Baco Gold Medal for its Maceración Carbónica Tinto 2025, a wine celebrated for both its distinctive character and careful craftsmanship. Adding to its uniqueness, the bottle features a label designed by renowned artist Jaume Vilardell, reflecting the winery’s long-standing connection between wine and art.
In addition to this important achievement, the winery also received two Silver Medals for its Blanc de Blancs 2025 and Rosado 2025. These awards highlight the consistency and high quality that define Macià Batle’s range of young wines and reaffirm the winery’s commitment to excellence across all its productions.
It is particularly noteworthy that, out of the four medals awarded to wines from Mallorca in this edition of the Baco Awards, three were won by Bodegas Macià Batle. This remarkable result reflects the dedication and expertise of the winery’s team and showcases the strong momentum currently enjoyed by Mallorca’s wine sector.
One of the reasons the Baco Awards are held in such high regard is the rigor and transparency of their judging process. All wines are evaluated through strict blind tastings, ensuring complete impartiality and objectivity. To guarantee anonymity, every bottle is concealed inside opaque sleeves, preventing judges from identifying producers or brands during the evaluation.
The tasting panel is composed exclusively of members of the Spanish Union of Wine Tasters, an organization widely respected within the wine industry. This year, a total of 55 experts participated in the judging process, including sommeliers, winemakers, wine journalists, and leading specialists in wine criticism.
During the competition, judges evaluate a wide variety of wine styles, including white, rosé, red, sparkling, and sweet wines, whether aged in oak or not. All wines entered must come exclusively from the 2025 vintage, making the Baco Awards an important showcase for the newest and most promising wines produced in Spain.
The recognition earned by Macià Batle further enhances the reputation of a winery that has spent decades combining innovation, quality, and a deep respect for Mallorca’s winemaking traditions. From its facilities in Santa Maria del Camí, the winery continues to produce wines that successfully blend tradition and modernity while highlighting the unique character of local grape varieties.
These awards are also excellent news for the international image of Mallorcan wines, demonstrating that the island continues to produce outstanding wines capable of impressing even the most experienced wine professionals. The success achieved by Bodegas Macià Batle at the 2025 Baco Awards is a testament to the passion, dedication, and pursuit of excellence that have made the winery one of Mallorca’s most iconic wine producers.
