Neo Rauch

Neo Rauch is one of the most sought after painters of the world today. He is co-founder of the New School in Leipzig, which combines abstract and surreal elements. Rauch, needed more than 20 years to find his own language: “figurative painting with echoes of advertising art and pop-art”, according to himself. The socialist realism of his past in former East Germany does not escape the images of the artist, who have a certain melancholic abandon of utopia where the historical one moves in dance with the surreal. He himself is seen in the tradition of artists such as Beckmann, Bacon, Beuys and Baselitz.
